Welcome to Launceston and the Coffee Pot; an oasis of quality food and delicious drinks. You will find us at the top of the White Hart Arcade – there is one hour free parking available on Madford Lane outside or longer term parking not far away.
We cater for everyone whether you arrive in a pushchair, wheelchair, on a cycle or just on foot. We pride ourselves in enthusiastically providing for a comprehensive range of dietary needs, including gluten free, vegetarian, and offer a low fat cake from a diabetic cookbook. If you would like us to adapt the menu we will do our very best to accommodate you – even poaching eggs for your breakfast. Remember that all food except bread and teacakes is made on the premises.
Why not start your visit to Launceston here and plan your trip around the town? There are lots of independent shops to browse around and of course the notable historic attractions in what used to be the ancient capital of Cornwall. Just down the arcade is the Tourist Information Office where you can get interesting information. Alternatively just ask in the Coffee Pot where we will gladly help you to find your way around.
You can walk down to the castle and through the grounds to the Lawrence House Museum, both open from spring to autumn. If you continue walking down past the castle you will find the Steam Railway and the River Kensey bubbling and splashing near the Priory ruins. You can even feed the ducks!
Closer to the town square is the world famous church of St Mary Magdalene with its carved exterior walls rated as the best in the land; well worth the time to go inside and shed a few of your problems to its quiet tranquillity and then on to Southgate Arch, the last remaining medieval gateway into the town.
After your tour around the town come back to the Coffee Pot and relax with a cream tea, or something more substantial if you feel the need. All the food is baked on the premises except for the bread and tea cakes so why not try some local delicacies such as chipple pie, a genuinely homemade Cornish pasty often described as divine or be naughty and enjoy some of our superb homemade cakes.
We are looking forward to showing you some real Cornish hospitality.
